Bhaderwah Campus , JK Police Doda Organize Awareness Programme on” New Criminal Law”

Bhaderwah, February 19: Bhaderwah Campus, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Doda, organized an awareness programme at Lal Ded Auditorium on the New Criminal Law to educate faculty members and students from various departments about the recent legal reforms. The event witnessed active participation from officials of the police department, who shared valuable insights into the key aspects of the new law.

In his message, Prof. Rahul Gupta Rector Bhaderwah Campus congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir Police for conducting an awareness programme on such an important topic. He emphasized the significance of understanding legal changes, particularly for the younger generation as it empowers them with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities under the new criminal justice system.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhaderwah Vinod Sharma who was the chief guest on the occasion, provided a detailed account of the New Criminal Law and its implications. He elaborated on the amendments introduced to strengthen the justice system ensuring swifter trials, victim-centric approaches and enhanced accountability of law enforcement agencies. He highlighted the need for awareness among students and faculty to promote legal literacy and ensure that society benefits from these progressive reforms.
Further, the SP Bhaderwah shed light on the practical applications of the new legal provisions stressing the importance of public cooperation in law enforcement. He underscored the role of students and educational institutions in disseminating awareness and fostering a culture of legal compliance and civic responsibility.

Dr. Neeraj Sharma Head of the Institute of Mountain Environment (IME), Bhaderwah Campus, delivered the welcome address. He expressed gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their initiative in enlightening the academic community on such a crucial subject. He also emphasized the role of legal awareness in shaping responsible citizens and ensuring societal harmony.

Speaking on the occasion, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Aeshal Nissar provided an insightful briefing on the new criminal law, explaining key provisions in a student-friendly manner. He urged students to stay informed about their legal rights and duties encouraging them to actively participate in creating a law-abiding society.

Station House Officer (SHO) Bhaderwah, Sandeep Parihar, also addressed the gathering shedding light on the importance of law enforcement in ensuring justice and public safety. He stressed that understanding the new criminal law would enable students to act as informed and responsible citizens, capable of contributing to society in a meaningful way.

Inspector Irshad also shared his thoughts on the new criminal law, highlighting its progressive aspects and the measures taken to ensure its effective implementation. He encouraged students to develop a keen interest in legal matters, as an informed youth can play a pivotal role in upholding justice.

The event was skillfully moderated by Arif Haleem Khateeb, External Relations Officer (ERO), Bhaderwah Campus, who conducted the proceedings seamlessly. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abid Sarwar, Head, Department of Computer Science, Bhaderwah Campus, who expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty, and students for their active participation in making the event a success.
