On Friday, the vehicle of a Hanuman Sena leader Kali Kumar was attacked with crude bombs at Sholavaram highway, Chennai. The police on investigating the attack on Hindutva leader found that it was staged by the leader himself to get police security. Kali Kumar was provided with security cover earlier also but that was withdrawn four months ago for his bad conduct.
According to the complaint filed by Kali Kumar, his car came under attack and a crude bomb was hurled at it while travelling on the Minjur-Vandalur outer ring road near Sholavaram. The police however got suspicious as there were many found differences and ambiguities in the narations of Kumar and his associates.
When Forensic experts examined the spot and burnt down remains of the Ambassador car, the contradicting facts came to surface which led to the Hindutva leader confessing that he himself had orchestrated it to get police protection.
Kumar along with his friend Gnanasekaran and another person who is the son of his elder brother, Ranjith, allegedly burnt the car themselves.
According to a senior police officer, Kali Kumar was provided with police protection in 2016, and as such a policeman with weapon always escorted him. However it was later on decided to withdraw the protection cover as the policeman had to protect him every now and then from problems he created in a drunken state. In wakwe of the new developments it has come to surface that in 2016 also he made a case for security cover by resorting to a similar crime and the angle is being thoroughly probed by the police.
Kumar, has a scrap business and is a leader of Hanuman Sena which has its branches in manny cities of kerela and also in Chennai and Coimbatore. Hanuman Sena came to limelight for attacking a group of youths in Kerala for organising a Kiss of Love event.
Kali has links with other right wing organisations also and before Hanuman Sena he was with Hindu Makkal Katchi which is a right wing Hindutva outfit affiliated to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Sri Ram Sena of Pramod Muthalik and Shiv Sena.
A case has been registered by the police agaisnt Kali Kumar and his two accomplices, Gunasekaran and Ranjith under IPC sections 436 (Mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house etc) and 420 (Cheating).
