Chairman LC reviews arrangements for Dalai Lama’s visit to Zanskar, Kargil

KARGIL JULY 12: In view of the expected visit of Dalai Lama to Kargil district, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today convened a meeting with the Executive Councilors and officers of the district administration.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councilor for Education Advocate Muhammad Amir, Executive Councilor for Tourism Tenzin Sonam, MLA Kargil, Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai, Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil, Vikas Kundal, SSP Kargil, Tsering Gyalpo, senior officers of district administration, representatives of various religious and social organizations and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on the preparations regarding the reception, boarding and lodging, security, medicare, sanitation, installation of Public Address System, laying of shamiyanas, seating arrangements and providing of water tankers at all venues were Dalai Lama will address the gatherings. Arrangements for holding of folk cultural programmes were also discussed.

The Chairman LC stressed upon the concerned officers to put in place all required arrangements well in time so as to ensure smooth conduct of Dalai Lama’s visit to the district.

The Chairman also asked the PHE department to ensure adequate drinking water facilities by providing water tankers at all venues. He asked the R &B department to macadamize the link road from National Highway to Spring Dales Public School, Mulbekh immediately.

Taking stock of the installation of Public Address System at all venues in district Kargil, Haji Anayat directed to the Assistant Director Information Kargil to ensure necessary arrangements for installation of the same.

Addressing the meeting, the Chairman LC underscored the need for close coordination among the concerned departments and asked the district administration to ensure that all arrangements are put in place well in advance.

Earlier, during a separate meeting with the district administration the Chairman took stock of various public interest issues in detail.

Earlier, the Chairman along with CEC and DC visited Purik Guest House, Kurbathang and took stock of the arrangements made by the District Administration for accommodation of Dalai Lama during his visit to district Kargil.
