The police on Monday arrested husband of the female flight attendant who allegedly committed suicide after jumping from the terrace of her residence in south Delhi on Friday afternoon. Police said that Mayank Singhvi will be produced before the magistrate on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, police had issued a lookout circular against the husband.

Anisiya Batra, who worked with a German airline Lufthansa, allegedly jumped from the terrace of her house on Friday afternoon. Her husband rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Police said that a board of doctors would conduct a second autopsy, and the procedure would be videographed. A senior police officer said the BMW of Anisiya’s husband, her diamond ring and their mobile phones have been seized.

The family of the victim had alleged that her husband and in-laws have been harassing her for a dowry for the past few months. The family also alleged that it was a murder case. Anissia’s brother Karan Batra also alleged that his sister had called him up on several occasions and had told him that she was being beaten up and abused for dowry.

The victim’s brother also said that day before the suicide, their father had submitted a letter to the Hauz Khas police station which said that Sanghvi would be held responsible if his daughter gets hurt in any way.

Her husband, a software engineer in Gurgaon, told police that they had regular fights as there were “compatibility issues”. They had an argument on Friday as well, following which Anisiya jumped from the terrace, police said.

The police have launched a probe in the case. A case under section 304B (dowry death) of IPC has been registered at Hauz Khas police station.
