More than 80 women prisoners of Byculla Jail have been admitted to JJ Hospital on Friday after complaining of stomach ache and vomiting. According to a Mid Day report, the resident doctors at the hospital are trying to revive the patients. The probability of water contaminated inside the prison cannot be ruled out, as per a senior doctor, who has confirmed the incident. There was no information if the jail’s most high-profile under trial — former media baron Indrani Mukerjea, who is a co-accused in the Sheena Bora murder case — was among those affected. Security was beefed up at the hospital after the inmates/under trials were admitted for medical treatment.
