CEC Kargil tours Barsoo block

Reviews pace of work on development projects

KARGIL, MAY 10: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, today visited Barsoo block and took stock of pace of ongoing developmental works in the area.

Executive Councillor for Education, Advocate Muhammad Amir, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Vikas Kundal, Councillor Barsoo, Muhammad Ismail, former MLA Zanskar, Ghulam Raza, besides several officers of the district administration and sub divisional administration Sankoo accompanied the CEC.

Kacho inquired about the progress registered on the widening and upgradation works of 18 kilometer-long Barsoo Itchoo road under CRF at a cost of Rs. 22 crore and construction of Link Road Shispur Phase-I at a cost of Rs. 1 crore under the District Plan.

The concerned engineers informed the CEC that work on Barsoo Itchoo Project has been completed up to Shargandig and the project is expected to be completed next year.

He directed the concerned to ensure completion of remaining works well within the stipulated time period while taking due care of the quality parameters so that durable assets are created. He also issued on spot directions to the revenue officers to clear the pending compensation cases in due course of time so that timely payments of compensation are released in favour of the concerned locals.

Addressing the people on the occasion, the CEC said that the present Council is fully conscious of developmental needs of people of far flung areas and efforts are being made to provide necessary facilities to people at their doorsteps.

Earlier, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan also visited Khandi village where he took stock of construction of 1.5 MW Mini Hydel Project. The engineers of Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency informed the CEC that work on the project is in full swing and around 60% work has been completed, adding the project is expected to be commissioned by November this year. The operation of the Hydel project will provide electricity to all villages of Barsoo Nallah besides Sankoo and Sangrah areas.

The CEC also visited the Government Higher Secondary School Barsoo and took stock of infrastructural and educational facilities there. The CEC assured full support for redressal of issues and instructed the teachers to work with missionary zeal so as to give fillip to education standard in the area.
