DC Kargil reviews arrangements for LAHDC elections

KARGIL, JULY 28: To ensure the fair and hassle-free conduct of fourth general elections for the Ladakh Autonomic Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, a meeting of officers of district administration and police was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer LAHDC Kargil, Vikas Kundal.

The meeting was attended by the SSP Kargil TresingGylapo, Additional S P Arun Gupta, Deputy District Election Officer Kargil, all Nodal Officers nominated for the conduct of LAHDC elections-2018 and other concerned officers.

Taking stock of the security arrangements, the DC, who is also District Election Officer Kargil, directed the district police authorities to make proper security arrangements for the elections. He also asked them to keep ready an adequate manpower including women police to ensure the hassle-free conduct of elections.

The meeting was informed that three companies of women police are being deployed during the LAHDC elections-2018 in the district. Hyper-sensitive and sensitive polling stations besides deployment of flying squads were also discussed in detail.

While taking stock of the establishment of counting centres, the Deputy Commissioner asked the Police authorities, R & B and Education Department to conduct a joint inspection of Government Polytechnic College Kargil, Government Degree College and DIET and submit a report in this regard.

The Department of Information has been asked to make Media Centres at DC Office Complex Baroo, Police Stations Zanaskar and Drass more vibrant and functional. District Informatics Officer, NIC Kargil was asked to ensure Internet facilities at these centres.

The Transport Department has been asked to ensure proper transportation facilities of the polling staff for the smooth conduct of the elections.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and ensure all necessary arrangements well in time. He also instructed them to work in tandem so that the elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
