Son of senior Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) politician D Srinivas was booked under Nirbahaya act on Friday after students of a private nursing college alleged sexual harassment.
Accused D Sanjay is the former mayor of Nizamabad and his father D Srinivas is one of the veteran politician of Telangana who served as state Congress president of United Andhra Pradesh during late Chief Minister YS Rajsekhar Reddy’s time.
On Thursday, 11 BSc students of Shankary Nursing college with the help of an NGO Progressive Organisation of Wiman (POW) had approached state home minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy in Hyderabad seeking action on Sanjay.
Home Minister had instructed state director general of police (DGP), M Mahendra Reddy, to investigate the matter.
The students in their complaint alleged that Sanjay who is an influential man in Nizamabad, on July 26 tried to sexually harass two students.
On Friday, the victims approached the Nizamabad commissioner and lodged an official complaint, based on which police booked D Sanjay under 354,506,509 IPC.
Meanwhile, Sanjay has denied all the allegation and said since he and his father have revolted against the ruling TRS party and its CM K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), he is being targeted.
Interestingly KCR’s daughter K Kavita is a member of parliament from Nizamabad where D Srinivas family had strong clout.
D Srinivas younger son D Arvind who is a successful businessman has joined Bhartiya Janta Party and shares a good equation with party national president Amit Shah and it is said that he is planning to field him against Kavita in the upcoming election in 2019.
