POONCH, MAY 11: A mega medical-cum-screening camp under Rashtriya Bal Suraksha Karyakaram (RBSK) initiative was held in Mendhar here today.
The camp was inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner, Abdul Hamid Manhas in presence of SDM Mendhar Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, State Coordinator NHM Dr Arshad Nazir, CMO, BMO SDPO besides officials from education, health and Child Development Programme office.
Special teams of doctors from District Hospital Poonch and sub-district hospital Mendhar attended the camp and screened patients for specified diseases. A medical mobile unit vehicle from DH Poonch was also made available in the camp.
Around 3000 children in age group of 0-18 years were screened under the programme. The pamphlets and other IEC material having details of causes, symptoms, preventive measures and treatments of the diseases were distributed among the participants.
Counsellors also interacted with adolescents and informed them of physiochemical and behavioural changes which occur during adolescence. They also distributed sanitary napkins among the beneficiaries. Lab tests for screening were made available in the camp along with transport facility for bringing the children from Balakote, Balnoi, Sagara, Dabraj and other villages of LOC.
