A video surfaced in which Additional Director General (ADG) of the Meerut zone, Prashant Kumar, Meerut Commissioner Anita Meshram and other senior officials were seen showering rose petals on kanwar yatris from a helicopter.
After facing flak over the video, ADG issued a statement and said, “No religious angle should be given, flowers were showered to welcome people. Administration respects all religion and actively take part in other festivals as well. ”
Earlier, the kanwariyas also created a ruckus in New Delhi’s Moti Nagar and were captured on camera rampaging a car, even as the cops stood bystanders to the hooliganism.
The cops have filed an FIR but no arrest have been made yet.
