National Deworming Day observed in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 10: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla today inaugurated National De-worming Day by administering De-worming drug to children.

National Deworming Day was organized by Health Department at Qamria Model Educational Institute Ganderbal here.

Throwing light on the benefits of school-based Deworming program, DDC urged Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. R.D Kasana to cover all the schools in the district under this program as majority of targeted children are available at the schools.

Highlighting the role of teachers in making Deworming campaign success, Dr. Singla urged upon teachers to fulfill their role in this program with enthusiasm and play a part in giving children a brighter future.

Speaking on the occasion CMO Ganderbal Dr. R.D Kasana said all children aged 1-19 years at schools and anganwadis will be administered Deworming drug (Albendazole) for improved child health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.

During the campaign, it was informed that children who could not be dewormed on National Deworming Day must be administered the drug on Mop-up Day on August 17 2018.

Others, present on the occasion were District Health Officer Dr. Parveena, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, District Immunization officer, DMO Ganderbal, officers from education department, teachers and large gathering of students.
