A militant was killed in an ongoing gunfight between militants and the government forces in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. Three civilians was injured in clashes near the site of the gunfight.
Reports said a joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the army cordoned off Gadol village of Vailoo area of Kokernag around.
The search operation was launched in the area following “specific inputs” about the presence of some militants, said an official.
“Contact has been established with the hiding militants at Gadol and the operation is going on,” he said.
“Body of a militant has been recovered from the site of the gunfight,” said an official. The identity of the slain was not immediately known.
