Gangsters’ posters dot town, 3 nabbed

Posters of gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra, carrying their photographs and congratulatory messages, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on behalf of a student’s organisation were seen in the town on Sunday.

The police and intelligence agencies were on their toes as hundreds of posters dotted the town this morning. The posters carried photographs of the two gangsters, besides photographs of local youths. These mentioned messages on behalf of the Students Organisation of Panjab University.

SP Bhiwani Gangaram Punia said three persons had been arrested in the matter after registering a case against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.

The accused were identified as Deepak, alias Popat, Sandeep, alias Monty, and Rajat, alias Pahari, all residents of Bhiwani district who are members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The accused are facing criminal cases and were bailed out from jail recently.

“Popat faces five criminal cases, while Monty is booked in three cases and one case is pending against Pahari. Deepak got bail on August 9, while the two others got bail about two months ago,” the SP said, adding that they were arrested in firing and extortion cases previously.

The police registered cases under Sections 268, 290, 505 of the IPC against them, besides Defacement of Property Act.
Gangster Sampat Nehra was nabbed by the Haryana Police recently. He had plans to target Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
