A serving Chief Engineer has come into Vigilance net for having assets disproportionate to his known income.
A senior officer in the Vigilance told that Ab Hanief who was earlier Chief Engineer I&FC before being shifted to other UEED was under Vigilance reader for quite some time and his multiple residences were raided.
A VOK handout said that its sleuths during the wee hours of 26 August conducted multiple raids at Srinagar, Jammu and Bandipora properties of the accused public servant.
Originally hailing from Gureez of Bandipora district Haneef who is currently Chief Engineer UEED has raised several assets at many assets at various places prompting VOK to start investigations against him.
Initial investigation revealed that the accused has amassed huge assets including “a plot of land at Wanbal, Rawalpora Srinagar, a plot of land at Naaz Colony Bandipora, a palatial house at Wanbal, Rawalpora, Srinagar, a three-storey house at Naaz Colony Bandipora, a flat in Gulposh Apartments at Bemina Srinagar, a Penthouse in Tawi Apartments at Sidhra Jammu besides other valuable movable properties,” the statement said.
The investigating team during the course of raids was able to lay hands on many important documents including bank receipts and various sale deed papers, it said.
The VOK said it had received an input revealing that “Lone has by resorting to corrupt and illegal practices, amassed huge movable/immovable properties. He has raised property highly disproportionate to his known source of income.”
Earlier, on Saturday a case FIR 29/2018 u/s 5(1)(e) read with 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt 2006 was registered against the accused in P/S VoK
