With the Shiromani Akali Dal staying away from the Punjab Assembly proceedings, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in his nearly 20-minute concluding remarks on Tuesday tore into the Akali leadership terming his predecessor Parkash Singh Badal as “a coward and a liar”.

The House also passed a resolution recalling the investigation from the CBI and forming a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the sacrilege cases.

Amarinder said the Congress has fulfilled its poll promise by setting up the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission to look into the incidents of sacrilege.

He described former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as “a coward and a liar”. You “cannot rely on him”, remarked the CM.

Amarinder said Badal is a very “complex person” and blamed him for the ills plaguing Punjab and for Operation Bluestar as well.

“Badal sabotaged peace process during the days of terrorism. There is no need to soft-pedal for him,” he said.

“Parkash Singh Badal slipped away from today’s session knowing that he would be nailed. When objective history of Punjab will be written, Badal would be painted evil,” the CM said.

The Akalis are now blaming their subordinates for police firing after planning everything, he said.

Targeting former Akali minister Bikram Majithia, Amarinder said he does not show any good traits of his family.
