SRINAGAR, MAY 14: Prof. Mehraj ud-din Mir, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan today.
Prof. Mir informed Governor about the present status and the difficulties relating to the development of the University’s infrastructure at Ganderbal. He also informed Governor about the decision to shift the University functioning from Srinagar to Ganderbal in transit accommodation made available by the State Government.
Governor re-iterated his concern about which he has been advising all Universities in the State, to ensure that the Vice Chancellors and all their teachers spend time to know each of their students and guide them not only in regard to their academic advancement but about all their problems and difficulties, particularly to protect them from unwholesome influences. Governor also stressed the crucial importance of institutions of higher learning remaining apolitical and ensuring against their faculties getting involved in contentious issues at the cost of advancing the academic and research interests of their students.
