College student arrested on charge of drug smuggling

In a raid police in North Tripura arrested a college student from Kanchanpur on the allegation of supplying the narcotics to among college students.

The accused Sudhangshu Nath was picked up by the police from Kanchanpur College last night with huge quantity of unspecified drugs—at the face of it Spasmo Proxyvon capsules.

Sudhangshu was accused of selling drugs to some of the college students.

Kanchanpur, Damcheera, Jampui and adjoin areas of bordering Mizoram had long been haunted by drugs menace. While Spasmo Proxyvon capsules are most favoured drugs in this area, of late Yaba tablets also known as Nazi tablets or Crazy drugs – coming from Myanmar and Bangladesh are steadily squeezing out the Proxyvon and becoming popular with a section of youngsters.

On the other, last night in a raid West Tripura police arrested two persons identified as Haripada Das and Bikash Chandra Dey from Mohanpur and seized 31.5 gm heroin, 4000 tablets and cash of Rs 57,785 from their possession.
