A CRPF soldier has been arrested in north Kashmir’s Sopore for allegedly molesting, sexually harassing and blackmailing a woman from last two years, sources said.
Earlier a woman from north Kashmir’s Sopore complained with police that a CRPF soldier has been molesting and blackmailing her for last two years.
The resident of Chinkipora Sopore, 50 years old woman (name withheld), alleged that the CRPF man has been molesting, raping and blackmailing her for last two years.
The woman alleged the CRPF man who was posted in a nearby camp to her house.
She said that the CRPF man has been threatening her not to reveal anything to anybody.
“I have made videos of you, I will make those video public on social media if you revealed facts about me,” the woman claimed the accused CRPF man as saying while threatening her.
“Finally I informed my husband about it and we complained in Sopore police station on August 23, 2018 and yesterday the CRPF man was arrested”, she said.
Dy SP Sopore, Mashkoor Zargar confirmed the arrest of the accused CRPF man to media.
“Soon as the case was registered we started investigating it and yesterday we arrested the accused.
The accused has been identified as Iqbal Ahmad son of Abdul Rasheed, a resident of Garkote Uri in Baramulla District who is currently posted in 179 BN of CRPF.
A case has been registered against the CRPF soldier under FIR number 234/2018 RPC 452, 376, 506 and further investigations were on, police sources said.
