From lovers to crime partners, cops nab Delhi’s Bunty-Babli

It’s no less than a movie script where a couple in their early twenties, who fell in love in their teenage, became life partners and within days after their marriage, became partners in crime as well.

From shop-lifting to mobile theft and snatching, the couple became notorious in the South-East Delhi. For mobile theft and snatching, the couple used a Hero Passion Pro bike that was later found to be stolen from Govindpuri area.

The woman used to be a pillion rider, and was skilled in snatching mobile and other valuables. While committing the crime, she used to cover her face with her dupatta while her husband used to wear a helmet.

“They were so trained that to avert their arrest, they used to hide the number plate before committing any crime. Also, the couple was very much aware about the vulnerable spots that neither have CCTV cameras nor heavy traffic,” an official close to the investigation said.

Identified as Vikram alais Vicky (24) and Sonia (20), the couple resides in Navjeevan Camp in Govindpuri. As many as nine criminal cases have been reported against them.

“Vikram is a school drop-out and has studied till Class 8. He used to work as a bus cleaner and in the early age he became addicted to liquor and ganja. In order to meet his needs he resorted to theft and snatching. He was previously arrested in nine such cases,” said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East).

Vikram further disclosed that his wife Sonia is also a school drop-out and she has studied till class 7.

“Vikram was also arrested in a case of snatching in Kalkaji, bit was released in July,” Biswal said.
