Militant outfit Hizb ul Mujahideen on Monday claimed that the five militants killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Sumlar forests of Bandipora were Kashmiris and not foreigners as claimed by the forces.
Quoting Hizb operational spokesperson Burhanuddin, news agency CNS reported that the five militants killed in the daylong gunfight on September 21 were locals.
“It was a group comprising five members who got trapped in Sumlar area and were killed in a gunfight,” said Burhanuddin.
He identified the slain as Hyder Ali from Brazul Kulgam, Muhammad Umar from Shopian, Muhammad Sidiq from Bandipora, Mawiya from Kangan and Usman from Lolab.
