World Hypertension Day observed at PU

Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh made people aware about Hypertension, here today on the occasion of World Hypertension Day.
Professor Archana Bhatnagar, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry informed that the survey was carried out by the research scholars of the Department aimed to fill the gap of appropriate knowledge among people about hypertension, its signs and symptoms. The team also helped the public with suggestions related to diet, exercise, yoga and meditation to de-stress. She mentioned the encouragement received from Chief Medical Officer, Dr. D.Dhawan and Dr. R. Khullar of Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, Panjab University in helping the team to conduct the survey in various pockets around the campus so as to motivate the public, especially the youth to maintain weight, cholesterol and blood pressure.
As a part of Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat Abhiyan, of Government of India, the message highlighted the importance of normal blood pressure being an important component of good health.
