A nine-year-old girl, Laviasha, was killed, while her sister Ankita (11) and a passerby, Gurmeet Singh, were seriously injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Krishna Mandi, Kurali, last night.
Both girls and their father were passing by the house when the roof suddenly gave way. The girls and the passerby, Gurmeet Singh, were trapped under the debris.
Neighbours came to their rescue and both girls and Gurmeet Singh were taken to the Civil Hospital, Kurali. While Laviasha died at the hospital, her sister and Gurmeet Singh were referred to the PGI. The power supply in the area was affected for several hours due to the roof collapse. Residents said they had informed the municipal council about this building two years ago.
