Krishna Raj Kapoor, the wife of the late Raj Kapoor, passed away this morning following a cardiac arrest. She was 87.
According to sources in Bollywood, the end came at 5 this morning.
The passing away of the Kapoor family’s matriarch was first broken on social media by actress Raveena Tandon. “Condolences to the entire Kapoor family. An era passes away, Krishna Raj Kapoor. God give you strength, and may the soul rest in peace. Om Shanti,” she posted on Twitter early this morning.

“Deeply saddened to learn the passing on of Krishna Raj Kapoor ji. A formidable woman, the Kapoor Khandaan anchor and an amazing human being,” Socialite and adman Suhel Seth quickly followed Tandon in his condolences.
According to her son and veteran actor Randhir Kapoor, Krishna Kapoor’s funeral will be held later today at the Chembur crematorium.
Kapoor told reporters that his mother passed away after a cardiac arrest and that “old age was another factor”.
Krishna Kapoor who married Raj Kapoor in 1946 Rishi, Rajeev, Randhir, and two daughters Ritu Nanda and Rimi Jain. She is the grandmother of actor Ranbir Kapoor.
Within hours of her passing, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor, took to Instagram to share pictures of her grandmother during their recent family vacation in Europe.
