Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir expresses its grave concern over the recent series of unusual verdicts of Indian Supreme Court giving legal sanctity to some known immoral acts which goes against the very human nature. These acts have always led a human society to moral bankruptcy and debauchery and ultimately to unimaginable devastation. The Supreme Court of India started with legalizing the live-in-relationship between two unmarried man and woman and as such issued license to the sexual relationship between them without proper wed-lock. Secondly, the unnatural sexual relationship amongst men and women was decriminalized. Thereafter, some days back, a married woman having illicit relationship with a man other than her husband was made non-punishable. These decisions pave the way for the Indian society to get entrapped in the immoral inhuman activities just like the beasts and even worse than that. This will certainly promote immodesty thereby eroding all human values. Such a society will be devoid of all human features and feelings and the humanity itself will become a butt of ridicule. Such laws and judicial verdicts tantamount to denial of the most dignified moral values taught by Islam.
In the meantime, this very court pronounced another amazing judgment declaring the existence of a Masjid non-essential for Muslims to attend the five time prayers (Namaz) daily. This verdict goes quite against the basic faith of the twenty crore Muslims living in India as the construction of a Masjid in Madina was given first priority by the Prophet of Islam (may peace be upon him) on reaching there after migration. This verdict seems to be a part of the plan to deprive the Muslims of their Islamic identity. When there is no Masjid, there will be no Azan (call to prayers) and weekly obligatory congregation of Muslims on Fridays will be impossible which cannot be held except a Masjid. These judges who have no faith in Islam have no domain to declare what is compulsory for Muslims or what is optional? It seems this verdict has been given in order to ease the way for justifying the demolition of Babri Masjid.
These all verdicts, going against the basic tenets of Islam, are quite unacceptable to the Muslim community and it is the duty of the Muslim scholars and intellectuals to come forward at this crucial juncture and raise their united voice against these judicial interferences in the profession of religion under the cover of the freedom of human beings. No civilized society will allow anybody to become a beast in the name of freedom. The freedom has its boundary which if crossed, violates the very concept of it. It is an obvious attempt to de-Islamize the Muslims. On the other hand, the Muslim personal law is being targeted in the name of the equality of women by the present Indian BJP regime which recently issued an ordinance regarding the triple talaq. The ordinance passed by the Indian cabinet is a clear interference in the Muslim Personal Laws and the Muslims are thereby being divested of their religious identity.
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir while expressing its total resentment over these verdicts by the Indian Supreme Court and the ordinance of the Indian cabinet, appeals all those intellectuals and scholars who believe in the religious freedom and the basic human values and ethos, to come forward and strive unitedly against all such attempts that are aimed to derailing the human society from the path of humanity.
