New Delhi, Oct 3: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday transferred the self-styled godman Daati Maharaj Rape case from the crime branch to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The Court fixed October 30 as the next hearing.
The development comes two days after, the crime branch of Delhi police filed a charge-sheet in the case under sections 376 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Saket Court.
Last month, the self-proclaimed godman was interrogated at the Crime Branch office in Chanakyapuri.
In June, a Delhi Police team, accompanied by the rape victim had visited Maharaj’s ashram in Pali, Rajasthan in search of evidence.
A woman who levelled rape allegations against Daati Maharaj had moved a plea in the Delhi High court seeking a CBI probe into the matter on July 17.
Through the petition, she also sought the arrest of Daati Maharaj and his brothers at the earliest and two of his ashram to be sealed.
Prior to this, the Delhi High Court on July 6 rapped police for not arresting the self-styled godman.
The woman disciple had alleged that she was sexually assaulted inside Shani Dham two years ago. Because of fear and social stigma, she didn’t file a complaint earlier as she felt intimidated by the self-styled godman.
The woman filed the case in Fatehpur Beri police station on Jun 10 this year.(Agencies)
