Three masked men allegedly looted a petrol pump at Charnia village on the Pinjore-Nalagarh highway of Rs 30,500 last night. The incident took place at 11.55 pm.
According to a petrol pump employee, three men came on a motorcycle from the Baddi side with their faces covered with cloth. They asked for a refill. When an employee told them that the pump was not working, one of them got down and allegedly started beating him up. They then allegedly took him to a cabin inside the petrol pump after breaking open the door. It is alleged that two of the three miscreants were armed with revolvers.
They broke open a cupboard and allegedly took away Rs 30,500 from a bag.
The entire incident was caught on a CCTV camera, which showed the petrol pump worker being beaten up. The miscreants fled after that.
“We have registered a case under Sections 392 (robbery) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and under the Arms Act,” said Inspector Virender Sharma, SHO, Pinjore police station.
He said two similar incidents had taken place in July. “ We have asked the petrol pumps, which are located on the border and are at isolated places, to hire security guards,” he said.
