RAMBAN OCTOBER 04: The Social Welfare Department (SWD) today organised an awareness generation event here at Government Girls High School to celebrate Senior Citizens Week.
At the event information and guidance was provided regarding care and protection to be given to the senior citizens through Social Welfare Department and other stakeholders.
Highlighting the role of younger generations in providing care and security to the elders, District Social Welfare Officer, Waheed –ul-Rehman urged the students to come forward for the welfare of the senior citizens as they are the backbone and knowledge house of the society.
He also sensitized the children about the need for care of grandparents by engaging with them in various acts of kindness.
During the programme Headmaster, Amjad Hussain, Master, Manjula Devi and Shakti Devi were also felicitated by the DSWO.
A pledge was also administered to the children to take care of the health, feelings and wishes of the senior citizens as a young men’s service. As a token of respect and appreciation, souvenirs were also distributed among the elders working in the institute.
Speakers called upon the people especially the younger generation to come forward for the welfare and betterment of senior citizens as they are the guiding lights of the society.
