KATHUA OCTOBER 04: The Wildlife Protection Department Kathua today organized an awareness event here at Surinsar Lake in connection with wildlife week celebration.
A large number of students, teachers, locals from adjoining area participated in the programme. The students of Government Higher Secondary School Surinsar participated in symposium and cultural programme on the theme conservation of Surinsar -Mansar wetlands and its environment. School children spoke on the wetlands conservation and importance of protecting local Flora and Fauna of the area.
The Regional Wildlife Warden Tahir Shawl, the Chief guest informed participants about the importance of conservation of Surinsar and Mansar water bodies as they support very important aquatic flora & fauna and are recognized as Ramsar site besides being part of Mansar-Surinsar Wildlife Sanctuary.
Other speakers were Bushan Lal Parimoo, Environment activist and President Environment Awareness Forum, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Surinsar Subash Chander Sharma and Subash Singh Jamwal, Advocate.
The programme was organised by the Wildlife Warden Kathua, Sunil Singh, Wildlife Warden Jambu Zoo, Vinay Khajuria, Range Officer Surinsar-Mansar Neeraj Baru, Range Officer JasrotaBishamber Singh and staff.
