The Income Tax department is conducting raids on TDP MP CM Ramesh’s residence and offices in Hyderabad and other locations, party sources said.
The provocation for the raids is said to be the letter sent by Ramesh, in the capacity of TDP PAC member, seeking information on the I-T raids conducted in AP in recent past from the department.
Within three days of sending the letter, about 60 officials of the IT department descended on his residence and offices at various places, including Hyderabad.
A series of I-T raids have taken place on TDP leaders that are being termed as part of Operation Garuda, according to TDP sources.
Earlier too, I-T raids were conducted on the homes of Beeda Masthan Rao and YS Chowdhary, which were also said to be part of Operation Garuda, sources said.
Earlier this week, the Enforcement Directorate raided TDP Parliamentary Party Leader YS Chowdhary’s offices. Last week, Income Tax officials raided many industrialists close to TDP leaders, party sources said.
