Shobha Yatra taken out in Reasi as part of Navratra Festival

KATRA OCTOBER 13: Festivity continued on the third day of Navratra Festival 2018 which is being organized by the state administration. Various cultural and devotional presentations kept the pilgrims and tourists enthralled.

In the evening, a Shobha Yatra was paraded through the town after lighting a traditional lamp by the Chief Guest, SDM Katra, Ashok Kumar in presence of AD Tourism Katra, Dr Umesh Shan, Sunil Sharma, Tehsildar Katra among others.

The Shobha Yatra displayed Dogra culture by displaying folk dances like Kud, Haran dance with a presentation of jaatar, a traditional way of paying homage to the ancestors. A dance item on garba, a Gujarati dance form was also presented in the Shobha Yatra.

In another event, the All India Devotional Song Competition organised at Yog Ashram Complex by SMVD Shrine Board, Department of J&K Tourism, J&K Bank and other private sponsors also entered its third day.

In this preliminary round of competition Sukhjinderjeet from Amritsar took 1st position where as 2nd position was held by Almast Sonu from Punjab and 3rd position was shared by Anmol Raja from Hoshiarpur and Afroj Raj from Bihar. Among the 11 auditioned participants in which five participants were from outside the state and six participants were from within state and were provided with the cash prizes of 10,000, 5,000 and 3000 respectively. The winner of the competition will be awarded with Rs 3 lakh and a recording contract with Venus Records & Tapes Ltd.

Mata ki Kahani, a musical theatre presentation is also being showcased every evening at the open-air theatre, Railway Station Katra. The show is a marvellous theatre experience showcasing the legend of Maa Vaishno Devi and is being presented by the eminent Theatre Director, Balwant Thakur and his theatre group.
