BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 15: A day-long awareness programme, “Mahila Kassan Diwas” was organised by the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in collaboration with Agriculture Department Bandipora here today.
The program participated by 50 women farmers was inaugurated by Chief Agriculture officer Bandipora Mohammad Qasim. The program was attended by the officers of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry besides the women farmers of various villages of the district. The motive of the programe was to acquaint the participants of modern techniques and to aware them of their role for the development of farming sector.
The resources persons from multiple sectors including Agriculture, Horticulture and animal husbandry highlighted the importance and fruitfulness of modern techniques viz. kitchen gardening, backyard poultry, post-harvest processing of fruits and vegetables and their management during the programme.
The theme of the program, celebrated country wide, is to double farmers income by 2022, with the proper disbursement of the role and responsibility by women farmers.
On the occasion Chief Agriculture officer (CAO)Bandipora, said cent percent development of agriculture is imaginary vision without the participation of women farmers especially the rural ones. “Women being the direct contributors to the GDP of the country need to be involved and aware about the various schemes of Government of India for the proper development of agriculture. He directed field officers to ensure the flow of various benefits to the women farmers through DBT scheme.
