Six civilians, three militants killed in south Kashmir’s Kulgam

The death toll of civilians in Kulgam clash has mounted to six one more civilian succumbed at SKIMS Soura in Srinagar on Sunday.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said an injured person brought from Kulgam was declared dead on arrival.

Earlier, two injured civilians who were brought to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital from Kulgam succumbed at the facility.
Earlier, three civilians injured in Kulgam were declared dead on arrival at district hospital Kulgam. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, Dr Fazil Kochak confirmed the deaths of three civilians.

He said ten injured civilians were brought to district hospital Kulgam. “Three were declared dead on arrival at the facility. Five were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment,” he said.

An official said that twelve injured were brought to Anantnag district hospital for treatment. “Three had bullet injuries,” he said, adding that three were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Eye witnesses said that three civilians were killed in a blast after gunfight ended in Larnoo village. Two more civilians are believed to have died during subsequent clashes with the forces.

The slain civilians were identified as Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway, Uzair Ahmad, Mansoor Ahmad, Talib Maqbool of Laroo, Tajamul Ahmad of Denew Bogund and Irshad Ahmad of Shurat.

Three militants were also killed in the five-hour-long gunfight that broke out today morning.

All of them, according to an official, were locals and affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad. He identified them as Shahid ul Islam Tantray of Wangam Shopian, Yazil Makroo of Arwani Bijbehara and Zubair Lone of Ahwatoo Kulgam.

Meanwhile, Joint Resistance Leadership has called for shutdown tomorrow against the killings.
