Cops remembered the sacrifices of their 414 colleagues, who had laid down their lives while performing their duty, at a function to mark Police Commemoration Day at the Mohali police headquarters in Sector 76 here today.
Families of 30 martyrs, living in Mohali district, were honoured on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Ropar Range Inspector General V Neerja said the state could see peace only due to the sacrifices made by dedicated officials of the police and defence forces.
“We salute all the martyrs. It is our duty to ensure their families do not face any difficulty leading their lives,” said the IG.
She added that at present, 92 such families were living in the Ropar Range. Of these, 41 have been living in Ropar while 35 and 16 families are putting up in Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib, respectively.
Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra and SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal were also present on the occasion.
