Five students of a private college at Jhanjheri here have been booked for thrashing a Kashmiri student.
Inspector Tarlochan Singh, SHO, Sohana police station, said they had booked Rishi, also a Kashmiri student, Sukhwinder, Karan and two unidentified youths from HP for thrashing Mubashir Matoo, a BTech final-year student at the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjheri. Matoo is native of Balhama in Srinagar.
In his complaint, the victim alleged that the accused, who study in his college, entered his apartment at Landran and thrashed him with sticks and rods on Friday evening. The victim was taken to a hospital at Sohana where he was discharged after treatment.
The victim’s acquaintances claimed that the college management was informed about the details of the incident.
A case under Sections 451, 323, 506 and 509 of the IPC has been registered against the five accused. “No arrest has been made in this connection yet,” said the SHO.
