Srinagar, Oct 28: The historic Jamia- Masjid in the downtown Srinagar reopened on Sunday, after being closed for two days as a precautionary measure to prevent any protests following separatist call for demonstration after Friday prayers and strike on Saturday.

All gates of Masjid, stronghold of chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, which were locked for two days, when nobody was allowed to enter the worship place, reopened.

Security forces and police personnel deployed since Friday have also been withdrawn from Jamia market, where shops and business establishments resumed.
