Robbers decamp with Rs one crore from truck in Kathua, driver detained

Jammu, Oct 28: In a bizarre incident, armed robbers decamped with Rs one crore from a private truck, which was on its way to Delhi in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“A Delhi bound truck, which had left on Saturday from Bari Brahmana area of Samba district, as it reached near Barwal in Kathua, three armed men intercepted it and robbed cash worth rupees one crore from the vehicle on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway,” police here said.

They said that the truck was carrying containers of a company dealing in packing and packaging of branded products.

“The cash was hidden in containers,” they added and said that the robbers decamped with cash after threatening the truck driver and a manager travelling in the vehicle.

“We have constituted a special team to investigate the case,” Bhim Sen Tuti, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range here told UNI on Sunday.

He said that investigations into the matter are in progress, adding, “The driver of the truck and some other suspects are rounded up and being questioned into the case.”
