A complete shutdown is being observed today in Tral township of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killing of a Jaish-e Mohammad (JeM) militant yesterday.
All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed while public transport was off the roads in the area.
A Jaish militant, whom the police identified as Anwar of Pakistani origin, was killed during a day-long gunfight with government forces in Darganaie Gund village of Tral on Friday. A policeman also sustained injuries during the gunfight.
A source said the slain militant was taken to Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district for burial.
