Rewari, November: A junior programmer at the office of Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Rewari, her relative and a candidate selected for the post of driver with Haryana Transport Department have been booked under Section 420 (cheating), 467 and 468 (forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC on the complaint of assistant secretary with the RTA.
The development came a month after Secretary-cum-ADC Pradeep Dahiya exposed ‘bungling’ in the issuance of heavy motor driving licence to the candidate, identified as Rakesh Kumar of Khandoda village here, by tempering with the official record.
The secretary had found the junior programmer, Rajni, guilty in his inquiry. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ashok Sharma has terminated her services. She had been working on contractual basis for past six months, sources said.
Sources maintained Dahiya, in his inquiry report, said Rakesh was issued a genuine licence on December 8, 2015, but he needed at least three years of experience of driving after issuance of the licence to become eligible for the post of driver advertised in 2017. Despite not having the required experience, he applied and got selected. On verification, Rakesh submitted an affidavit claiming that he had got the licence in 2012 but by mistake, a wrong date was mentioned on it, the sources added.
“Rakesh then approached the RTA office to get it rectified. The officials checked the record and found the licence date correct but he planned to get it changed illegally. Rajni assisted him in getting a duplicate licence. She asked a data entry operator to temper with the official record while showing Rakesh as her relative,” said Dahiya.
The licence was then given the date December 8, 2012, in place of original date whereas Rakesh underwent mandatory training for the licence from October 22 to 25 November, 2015, Dahiya added.
