Kaithal: One youth was killed and two others were injured when their car hit a tree near Peoda Gate on Jind road here on Sunday.
The deceased, Sukh Dass (23) of Chillar in Dadri, was going to Kurukshetra to take the Group-D exam. He was accompanied by Jasbir and Virender, residents of Chillar.
The mishap happened around 3 am. A police team reached the spot and admitted the youths to the civil hospital where Sukh Dass was declared dead. After preliminary treatment, doctors referred the two injured to the PGI, Chandigarh.
Parveen, Sukh Dass’ cousin, said the examination authority had allotted exam centres far away from the candidates’ native places. He said had the examination centre been nearer to the village, the tragedy could have been avoided.
