A complete shutdown is being observed today in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the power outages in the area.

Hundreds of people took to streets and shouted slogans against the Power Development Department (PDD) on Tuesday.

The protesters also staged massive protests at main market Tral and complained against unscheduled and long power cuts that they have been facing for last two weeks.

AEE power sub- division Tral, Mohammad Maqbool told Greater Kashmir that some miscreants at Amirabad village have illegally taken power line from the main town without taking department into consideration.

“The power supply of metered areas cannot be given to non-metered areas particularly when the town is facing power cuts due to overloading. We have informed administration and police to lodge an FIR against the culprits,” he said.
