Kaithal: Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvart on Sunday said social organisations could play a major role in establishing peace and equality, leading to liberation of society.
Devvart was addressing a gathering at RKSD College during a programme organised by the Umang Utsav Welfare Society.
He said people who worked for others could give a new direction to society.
He asked the social organisation to undertake those initiatives that would inspire society for long time. “Good initiatives, though small, may give a new direction to society and provide support to the needy,” he said.
Devvart also launched a ration distribution scheme. He gave away ration to 12 needy women. He honourd senior citizens, progressive farmers, Kakrala village sarpanch Parveen Kaur and other notable social organisations from the city.
