SRINAGAR, MAY 26: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, today directed the officers to intensify their efforts to keep a check on sale of spurious pesticides and fertilizers.
The Director said this while chairing a meeting here today. He directed the concerned to check the quality of pesticides and fertilizers so that farmers get quality products.
During the meeting, the Director was informed that there are 33,364 registered pesticide license holders in Kashmir division and the process of issuing the licenses is done as per the procedure and provisions of law. He directed the Plant Protection Officer to issue the licenses in a time-bound manner and stick to the provisions of law strictly.
Soil Chemist Kashmir apprised the director about the need for developing the infrastructure to increase the efficiency for testing more number of soil molecules. He directed the soil chemist for submitting the proposal for the upgrading of required infrastructure.
The Director Agriculture also reviewed the working of Divisional Seed Certification Officer and directed him for time-bound registration of seed village programmes and sampling of different seeds, to ensure that quality seeds are provided to the farmers.
Joint Director Agriculture Extension/ Inputs, Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Plant Protection Officer, Soil chemist, Divisional Seed Certification Officer, Assistant Director Law Enforcement and District Law Enforcement Officers & Law Enforcement Inspectors of Kashmir Division attended the meeting.
