Sericulture Dept staff sensitized about Vermicomposting

JAMMU, DECEMBER 06: Department of Agriculture organised one Day Training Programme-Cum-Orientation workshop to sensitize the officers and Staff of Sericulture Department about Vermicomposting, here today.

The chief Resource person, Sarmesh Kumar, Training Officer (FTC) covered in detail all aspects of Vermicompost making through power point presentation.

He said that the objective of this training is to aware the participants how to utilize the waste material mulberry nursery like fallen leaves, tender twigs, straw, litter and other bio degradable waste to manufacture of high quality Vermicompost. It was informed that Vermicompost is 50-75% cheaper and 25% lesser quantity is needed as compared to chemical fertilizers. More over it can be a very good source of extra income to the sericulturists through the sale of Vermicompost.

Later visit to Vermicompost unit and naturally ventilated Polly green house with in the complex of Directorate of Agriculture was conducted to impart practical training to the participants. Many queries were raised by the trainees that were satisfactorily answered by the experts on spot.
