LABOUR DEPARTMENT SHOPIAN ORGANISES AWARENESS PROGRAMME
DISBURSED AN AMOUNT OF 14.95 LAKH AMOUNG BENEFICIARIES.
Labour Department Shopian today organized one day awareness camp for construction and other workers at mini secretariat Arhama Shopian. Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed was the Chief Guest on the occussion.
Speaking on the occasion DC said that the labour class is the backbone for the development of a nation and government has formulated various welfare schemes for their upliftment. He further appealed all workers to register themselves and avail benefits of various schemes. He instructed the officer and officials of the department to create mass awareness about various schemes and programmes being implemented by the department so that the benefit reaches to the deserving beneficiaries. He directed the Assistant labour Commissioner to undertake corrective measures and do proper survey to ensure that all the the genuine construction and other workers are covered under these welfare schemes.
Earlier the Assistant Labour Commissioner Shopian Aabid Hussain Shah and his team informed the construction workers about different labour laws and schemes of Labour Department such as muhafiz scheme, bank insurance policies and micro credit schemes.
Later on financial assistance under different schemes to the tune of 14.95 lakh were disbursed which includes professional education assistance of ₹ 2.80 lakh among six beneficiaries , chronic diseases assistance worth ₹ 2.9533 lakh among five beneficiaries, compensation for death of workers worth ₹ 2.05 lakh to legal dependents and under injury / illness benefit of ₹ 10216 to one beneficiary
District Social Welfare Officer Shopian, Mohammad Shafait, officials of labour department and scores of labourers/ construction and other workers from various parts of the district were present on the occasion.
