BBBP awareness prog held at Rajouri

RAJOURI DECEMBER 15: District Administration in collaboration with Himalayan Education Mission organized an awareness camp under BetiBachaoBetiPadao scheme here at HEM college Thandikassi.

District Development Commissioner Rajouri was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the students, the DDC informed that BetiBachaoBetiPadhao is a central scheme launched by the Prime Minister with an aim to make girls independent both socially and financially. He informed that the campaign aims at to improve the declining sex ratio at birth and highlight the need to address the issue of pre-birth and post-birth discrimination with girl child such as sex determination, less care in health and education. He said for successful implementation of the scheme, there is a need to change the mindset of people and prevent gender-based sex determination. He urged the participants to focus on survival and protection of a girl child by ensuring education and improved nutrition to them.

On the occasion, a symposium was organized in which a number of students participated and put forth their views and suggestions for the success ofBetiBachao, BetiPadhao campaign.

Meanwhile, several renowned social activists and educationists of the district including Azam Shah, Nissar Hussain Rahi and Principal HEM College shared their views on the subject.

Chairman Himalayan Education Mission Society, Mohammad Muslim, District Education and Planning Officer, Gulzar Hussain, Nissar Hussain Rahi, Azam Shah, college staff and students were present on the occasion.
