Chandigarh, December 16: Twelve persons were arrested for gambling at a house in Sector 44 today. The police recovered Rs 4.12 lakh from them. The police also impounded four two-wheelers and four cars, including an Audi.
The police had a tip-off regarding the gambling at the house after which a raid was conducted and 12 persons were nabbed.
Those arrested are Rajinder Kumar (50), a junk dealer, Ashwani Kumar (55), who runs a dhaba in Sector 29, Davinder Singh (50), who has a readymade garments business, Rakesh Kumar (40), who runs a PG in Sector 33, Khalil Ahmed (38), a cloth vendor, Pitamber Bhatt (31), who owns a department store in Zirakpur, Ompal (53), who has a catering business, Parmod Kumar (53), who owns a furniture shop in Sector 34, Anil Kumar (53), who is a wholesale medicine supplier, Surinder Singh (40), who is a transporter, Ranjit Singh (40), who works at a garment shop in Sector 22, and Rahul Garg (26), who owns a mobile sale and repair store in Phase I, Mohali. A case was registered against them.
