Thief’s arrest leads to the recovery of four more vehicles

Chandigarh, December 20: The arrest of a 50-year-old man, a native of Hoshiarpur, who was nabbed while riding a stolen Honda City car, has led to the recovery of two more cars, an Activa and a motorcycle. Meanwhile, a scrap dealer has also been arrested by the police for purchasing stolen cars from the suspect.

Paramjit Singh, a resident of Hoshiarpur district, was nabbed at a naka near the road separating Sector 55 and 56 while riding a stolen Honda City car, bearing a fake number.

The suspect was remanded in two-day police custody, which led to the recovery of two more cars — a Zen, which was stolen from the area under the jurisdiction of the Sector 39 police station, and a Honda City, which was stolen from the area under the jurisdiction of the Sector 3 police station.

The police said the two vehicles were recovered from a scrap dealer, Rakesh Bassi, who had a shop in Dasuya in Hoshiarpur district.

The police said Paramjit, who runs a dhaba in Talwara, Punjab, had borrowed money from him, which he could not return, following which he started stealing vehicles to return his money.
