Two duped of 10,000 euros

Chandigarh, December 24: Two persons were allegedly duped of 10,000 euros, which they had gone to exchange with Indian currency at a showroom in Sector 9 today.

According to the police, Jagdish Chander, a resident of Khuda Lahora, and Karan Kapoor, a resident of Shivalik Vihar, Nayagaon, reported that they had gone to SCO 156-157, Sector 9, to get 10,000 euros exchanged. They went to a cab where they met an unknown person to whom they handed over the euros.

The police said the person was supposed to return Rs 8.10 lakh to them. “The person asked the victims to wait in a cabin and he left and did not return,” said a police official.

The victims got suspicious and informed the police, who arrived at the spot. The footage of CCTV cameras was scrutinised and the images of the suspect were recovered.

A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station.
