New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, who was caught on camera assaulting a differently-abled man in Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh, denied the charges, saying that it is a conspiracy to malign the image of the party.
“He was abusing Modi ji & Yogi ji, I tried to first explain things, he was drunk, it was a conspiracy to malign BJP, I was just trying to make him leave the place. I didn’t shove stick in his mouth,” BJP’s Mohammad Miyan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to reports, the BJP leader tried to shove a stick into the mouth of the differently-abled man as the latter announced that he will vote for the Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav. The incident happened when the BJP leader was going to meet the sub-divisional magistrate Dipender Yadav at the Collectorate along with Sambhal district president Rajesh Singhal and other BJP workers.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Manoj Gujjar, reportedly started raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. This angered the BJP leader who then took out a stick from his vehicle and tried to shove it into his mouth. The incident was caught on camera. The victim was reportedly arrested on the orders of SDM Singhal, for breach of peace.
