Suspected militants on Friday night fired at the paramilitary personnel guarding a power station in Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar.
Reports said that the gunmen fired at Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel guarding the power station at Wagoora in Nowgam.
They said the CISF personnel retaliated, leading to an exchange of fire that lasted for few minutes.
An official said there was no immediate report of any loss of life or injuries in the incident. “The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers,” he said.
In October this year, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Central Industrial Force (CISF) was killed in a militant attack at the power station.
